Phases and Project Life Cycles

Product-oriented processes are normally grouped into phases. Experience has shown that most project initiating organizations divide the project into smaller segments or phases to ease product creation. Each phase contains a different process group and, collectively the project phases are known as the project life cycle. Phase definition varies by application area. Product development projects from the pharmaceuticals industry are very different from building construction projects.

Web Publishing project can be organized into 6 phases:

1. Project Definition

2. Information Architecture

3. Design

4. Production

5. Integration and Launching

6. Maintenance
